Songs of Becoming is an intimate concert journey created by Lauren (Los Angeles) and Francesca (Bologna), two musicians who found each other by chance in post-pandemic Berlin. What began as spontaneous music-making in small apartments — around a piano, long dinners, and shared glasses of wine — slowly grew into a shared musical language and a deep artistic friendship.

Rooted in their love for German Lieder, this project was born from the desire to bring these songs back to their original home: the living room, among friends, where music is shared rather than performed “at” an audience. For Lauren and Francesca, music is a way of creating space — a place where emotions are welcomed, contradictions are allowed, and stories can be lived together.

The program traces a poetic path through time and styles: from Schumann’s Gedichte der Königin Maria Stuart to the mystical world of Hildegard von Bingen, from medieval female troubadours to the defiant spirit of Anne Boleyn, touching jazz, contemporary song, and the quiet wisdom of Joni Mitchell. These pieces reflect on transformation, memory, identity, and the fragile, powerful process of becoming.

Songs of Becoming is an invitation: to listen closely, to feel freely, and to find fragments of your own story within the music.
