To mark the 70th anniversary of the German-Italian agreement on the recruitment of so-called ‘guest workers’ (20 December 1955 – 20 December 2025), the Makkaroni Academy in Cologne invites you to the exhibition Makkaroni Settanta – Esperimento collettivo.

With the aim of breaking down stereotypes about Italians in Germany, the collective was founded in 2020 and has since been creating spaces and opportunities for exchange through artistic formats.

The participating artists, who have a history of Italian migration, address the topic in a variety of ways, including sculpture, painting, photography, video & mixed media installations, film, poetry and sound installations.

At the same time, a collective space with a kitchen – spazio collettivo e cucina collettiva – will be inaugurated, which will continue to develop over four weeks through discussions, shared meals, music and workshops. The exhibition will be complemented by a diverse cultural programme, including artistic workshops, film screenings, storytelling cafés and music evenings.
