Music enthusiasts have an unmissable appointment on September 22, 2023. SO36 is pleased to present a unique musical event in collaboration with Entre Trópicos and Eck Echo, a vibrant cultural management project deeply rooted in the musical diaspora of Latin America.
The concert will feature the outstanding participation of renowned artist Nidia Góngora, internationally recognized as one of the most captivating and versatile voices in the realm of folk and traditional music from the Colombian Pacific. Her voice has been acclaimed for its unparalleled beauty and its ability to convey the ancestral traditions of her country with a contemporary touch. Throughout her career, she has collaborated with various artists such as Quantic and Onda Tropica, becoming a cultural ambassador for Colombia on international stages.
Joining Nidia Góngora will be other exceptional artists, including Bullerengue All Stars, an ensemble that uses this traditional expression as a ritual and symbol of resistance and connection to the Palenquera ancestry. Additionally, Calamidades Lola, a Barranquilla-born DJ based in Berlin, will be present. Her musical selection is heavily influenced by the "picotera" culture of the Colombian Caribbean coast, where local DJs blend African, Antillean, and Latin sounds in popular street parties. Mokeyanju, on the other hand, will guide us through a sonic spectrum ranging from hip-hop to Detroit house culture, incorporating Fuji, Highlife, and Ndombolo.
An evening primarily led by women awaits, where we will delve into diverse musical explorations rooted in African traditions through ritual, drumming, celebration, and enjoyment. This promises to be a unique and unforgettable experience.
