Das Projekt Peyvand – ein persisches Wort für Verbindung – versteht sich als Raum für den musikalischen Dialog zwischen Künstler:innen unterschiedlicher geografischer und kultureller Herkunft. Initiiert von Yaser Bayat in Zusammenarbeit mit der PANDA platforma, ist Peyvand ein offener, sich stetig weiterentwickelnder Prozess, in dem aus der Begegnung neue Klänge und kulturelle Verbindungen entstehen.

Nilanjan ist Tabla-Spieler der Farukhabad Gharana und lebt in Berlin. Bereits mit sechs Jahren begann er unter Anleitung seines Vaters und trat später als Kinderkünstler für All India Radio auf. Seine Ausbildung vertiefte er bei Shri Kamal Chakraborty und Pandit Ravindra Yavagal; zudem hat er den Abschluss Sangeet Visharad der Prayag Sangeet Samiti. Ob solistisch oder in der Sangat-Begleitung – sein Spiel verbindet technische Präzision mit der emotionalen Ausdruckskraft der hindustanischen Klassik. Konzerte führten ihn unter anderem in die Indische Botschaft in Berlin und zu Konzertreihen in Bangalore und Dharwad.

Sebastian Dreyer zählt zu den wenigen europäischen Musikern, die sich der indischen Raga-Musik in ihrer traditionellen Form widmen. Seine Interpretationen sind erzählerisch und nehmen das Publikum mit auf weite Klangreisen. Er lernte das Sitarspiel in Berlin, Jaipur und Kolkata – zunächst bei Gisela Tarwitt, seit 2003 bei Partha Chatterjee, einem Schüler von Nikhil Banerjee und Ali Akbar Khan. Aus diesen Einflüssen hat Dreyer einen eigenen Stil entwickelt, der die Möglichkeiten des Instruments mit den Ausdrucksmitteln des indischen klassischen Gesangs verbindet. Er konzertiert regelmäßig in Deutschland und darüber hinaus in Indien, Russland, Tschechien, Lettland, Polen, der Schweiz, Österreich und Indonesien.

Yaser Bayat ist Komponist, Multiinstrumentalist und ehemaliger Dozent an der Universität Teheran. In Berlin unterrichtet er an verschiedenen Musikschulen und arbeitet mit Künstler:innen aus unterschiedlichen Kulturen zusammen. Seine Projekte stellen iranische Instrumente in einen internationalen Kontext und interpretieren sie neu.

The project Peyvand — a Persian word for connection — is conceived as a space for musical dialogue between artists of different geographical and cultural backgrounds. Initiated by Yaser Bayat in collaboration with PANDA platforma, Peyvand is an open, continually evolving process in which new sounds and cultural connections emerge from these encounters.

Nilanjan is a tabla player of the Farukhabad Gharana, based in Berlin. He began playing at the age of six under the guidance of his father and later performed as a child artist for All India Radio. He deepened his training with Shri Kamal Chakraborty and Pandit Ravindra Yavagal, and holds the Sangeet Visharad degree from Prayag Sangeet Samiti. Whether as a soloist or in sangat accompaniment, his playing combines technical precision with the emotional depth of Hindustani classical music. He has performed at the Indian Embassy in Berlin and in concert series in Bangalore and Dharwad, among other venues.

Sebastian Dreyer is one of the few European musicians devoted to Indian raga music in its traditional form. His interpretations are narrative in character, taking the audience on expansive sonic journeys. He studied sitar in Berlin, Jaipur and Kolkata — first with Gisela Tarwitt, and since 2003 with Partha Chatterjee, a disciple of Nikhil Banerjee and Ali Akbar Khan. From these influences Dreyer has developed a personal style that weds the technical possibilities of the instrument with the expressive vocabulary of Indian classical singing. He performs regularly in Germany and has toured in India, Russia, the Czech Republic, Latvia, Poland, Switzerland, Austria and Indonesia.

Yaser Bayat is a composer, multi-instrumentalist and former lecturer at the University of Tehran. In Berlin he teaches at several music schools and collaborates with artists from a wide range of cultural backgrounds. His projects place Iranian instruments in an international context and reinterpret them anew.
