In this Workshop we work with the coil building and pinching technique to create beautiful shapes and vessels such as teapots or moonjars, guided by Kiho Kang’s expertise. Open to anyone, regardless of previous skills, who intends to refine their craft.
Coiling is the oldest method of shaping vessels. For many centuries, this type of vessel making has been cultivated in all cultures.
Kiho Kang makes functional geometric vessels and objects by coil building and pinching each piece slowly step by step, a method that lead him to a more deliberate way of working with the material, giving each piece a special haptic quality. He learned his craft in South Korea and in Germany's clay region Westerwald. The simplicity and texture in his pieces displays the time and craftsmanship that has gone into their making.
There will be a lunch option on Saturday with healthy Korean food from Sunbap.
Material and firing is charged separately, based on the amount of clay used (per kg), firing is 10€/kg. Please cancel your class 30 days in advance by email to get a refund.
