RESONATING REVOLUTION

Multimediale Rauminstallation von Theresa Münnich

Das Ausstellungsprojekt RESONATING REVOLUTION widmet sich der Revolution der Würde 2014 in der Ukraine. Ausgehend von dem Gedanken, dass Revolutionen sich nicht linear sondern durch Resonanz verbreiten, untersucht die Videoinstallation das Echo, das diese Revolution hinterlassen hat. Die Revolution wird nicht als abgeschlossenes Ereignis, sondern als Prozess verstanden, der bis in die Gegenwart nachhallt.

Fragmentarisch nähert sich die Ausstellung der kollektiven Erinnerung mittels Interviews, Klängen, Bildern und essayistischer Textauszüge. Diese werden zu einem vielschichtigen Geflecht verwoben und erschaffen gemeinsam einen begehbaren Resonanzraum. Zugleich thematisiert RESONATING REVOLUTION Formen kollektiver und solidarischer Praxis und wirft Fragen zu Utopie und Gemeinschaft im europäischen Kontext auf.

ENG: The exhibition project RESONATING REVOLUTION is dedicated to the 2014 Revolution of Dignity in Ukraine. Based on the idea that revolutions do not spread linearly but through resonance, the video installation examines the echo that this revolution has left behind. The revolution is not understood as a completed event, but as a process that reverberates to the present day.

The exhibition takes a fragmentary approach to collective memory by means of interviews, sounds, images and essayistic text excerpts. These are woven into a multi-layered web and together create a walk-in resonance space. At the same time, RESONATING REVOLUTION addresses forms of collective and solidary practice and raises questions about utopia and community in the European context.
 

Künstlerin / artist

Theresa Münnich, geboren in Halle/Saale, arbeitet dokumentarisch mit den Medien Film und Radio. Sie studierte Medienkunst mit Schwerpunkt Dokumentarfilm an der Akademie der bildenden Künste in Wien, an der Hochschule für Grafik und Buchkunst in Leipzig sowie an der Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design Jerusalem, unter anderem bei Clemens von Wedemeyer, Thomas Heise und Ayal Goldberg. Außerdem Studium der Judaistik/Jüdische Studien und Soziologie in Halle und Tel Aviv. Ihre Arbeiten beschäftigen sich mit Fragen von Erinnerungskultur und Identität, die durch gesellschaftliche und historische Prozesse aufgeworfen werden. 

ENG: Theresa Münnich, born in Halle/Saale, works with documentary media such as film and radio. She studied media art with a focus on documentary film at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna, at the Academy of Visual Arts in Leipzig and at the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design Jerusalem, studying under Clemens von Wedemeyer, Thomas Heise and Ayal Goldberg, among others. She also graduated in Jewish Studies and Sociology in Halle and Tel Aviv. Her work deals with questions of memory culture and identity raised by social and historical processes.
