The Listening Room Berlin presents Robot Koch - Quieter

Das sagt der/die Veranstalter:in:

We're excited to invite you to a special evening with Robot Koch around the new album Quieter at The Listening Room Berlin.

We’ll gather for an intimate deep listening experience of the full album, followed by a conversation about the music, the process behind it, and the ideas that shaped the record.

The evening will begin with a short attunement and guided meditation by Kathi Hendrick to help everyone arrive, slow down, and settle into a deeper state of listening.

After the listening experience, Robot Koch will share reflections on the making of Quieter, and we’ll open the space for a Q&A together.

Foam and Sand — Quieter

Quieter is a deeply restrained ambient album by Robot Koch under his moniker Foam and Sand, unfolding as a slow invitation into presence, attention, and emotional contact. Rather than seeking impact or intensity, the music creates space, allowing something subtle to arrive and settle over time. This is music that does not aim to impress, but to meet the listener quietly, in a place beneath language.

The album is built from distilled elements, analog synthesizers, live vibraphone, chimes, and bells, all gently shaped through tape processing for warmth and saturation. Compositions are reduced to their essential gestures, giving each sound room to breathe. Patience and simplicity are treated as compositional tools, restoring continuity of attention and deep rest rather than driving stimulation.

Quieter forms the musical foundation for a series of immersive listening works developed alongside the album. These spatial audio experiences, presented in intimate architectural contexts, are designed for deep listening with minimal visual presence. Participants are invited into a shared listening field where sound shapes perception, supports nervous system regulation, and encourages a calm, collective attentiveness.

The album and the live work exist in quiet dialogue, each reinforcing the other without hierarchy.

Vocals by Peia and Priscilla Ahn appear with characteristic subtlety, continuing long-standing collaborations within the Foam and Sand project. On one piece, violinist Masha Brodskaya contributes a performance that mirrors the album’s overall sensibility, serving the reduced soundscape rather than rising above it. Every contribution is held with care, allowing emotional resonance to emerge without excess.

This is not music designed to spike dopamine or demand focus. It is a gentle reorientation toward subtle beauty and shared presence.

Quieter is released via Trees and Cyborgs, Robot Koch`s own label.
