Rootwork Cinema — Soup, Film & Discussion

Khartoum (2025)
⏱approx.1h20min

For this Rootwork Cinema gathering, we will screen Khartoum, a critically acclaimed film following five residents of the city as they navigate survival, displacement, and the search for freedom after the outbreak of the Sudanese civil war.

In April 2023, the civil war between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces militia, lead to widespread violence and displacement of over ten million people including the filmmakers.

When world politics favor short-term financial gains and put human lives as collateral, the film encourages to question the fragility of our political and economic systems.

Rootwork Cinema invites you to come together around food, film, and collective exchange.
