"Saints, See and Sun" ist ein Musikprojekt, das darauf abzielt, das Jazz-Erlebnis, insbesondere die Improvisationspraxis, mit den Atmosphären und Farben der Musiksprachen zu verbinden, 

die in den Anrainerstaaten des Mittelmeerbeckens entwickelt wurden. Viel Musik, die mit 

oft geteilten kulturellen Traditionen verbunden ist und deren Wurzeln in einem Terrain 

liegen, das den Geist und die künstlerische Ausdruckskraft der Völker Südeuropas und 

Nordafrikas stark prägt. 

Kurz gesagt, eine Musikkultur, die sich von drei Hauptelementen inspirieren lässt: Gebet, Geschichten über das Meer und die Energie der Sonne. 

Das Repertoire des Quartetts besteht ausOriginalkompositionen der Gruppenmitglieder, 

die von den traditionellen Musikformen der mediterranen Populärkultur inspiriert sind. 

Alessandro Di Puccio

,Vibraphonist, Pianist, Komponist, war Mitglied in einem der wichtigsten Clubs, Festivals und Konzerten, in der Welt von Jazz und Weltmusik, in Italien und Europa und hatte zahlreiche Kooperationen und bahnbrechende Diskografien. Unter den bedeutendsten: Toots Thielemans, Albert Mangelsdorff, Mal Waldron, Mike Turk, Sal Nistico, Scott Hamilton. 

Er dirigierte und schrieb Kompositionen und Arrangements für das gesamte Jazzorchester und war von 1986 bis 2017 Dirigent an einer der wichtigsten italienischen Jazzschulen. 

Matthias Haase 

studierte Oboe an der UdK Berlin und Barockoboe an der Akademie für Alte Musik, 

Bremen An der Hochschule für Musik in Detmold belegte er einen Studiengang in 

Musikvermittlung, Konzertpädagogik. Die Zusammenarbeit mit Jazzmusikern begann im Jahr 2000 daraus folgte die Gründung 

des Alec Wilder Oktett, Berlin. 

Seit 2017 besuchte er einige Workshops für Jazzimprovisation bei Jean Luc Fillon. Seit vielen Jahren leitet er Ensembles an verschiedenen Musikschulen, mit den Schwerpunkten, Bläserkammermusik sowie Barockmusik. 

Andrea Marcelli 

im Laufe seiner Karriere trat er in den USA, Japan, Indien, Brasilien, China, Kanada, Südafrika, Italien, England, Spanien, Portugal, Dänemark, Schweden, Norwegen, Russland, Frankreich, Belgien, Finnland, Holland und anderen Ländern auf. 

Er führt seit vier Jahrzehnten ein sehr aktives Musikleben und tritt mit Wayne Shorter, David Liebman, Bob Mintzer, Mitchel Forman, Eddie Gomez, Mike Stern, Bob Berg, John 

Patitucci, Allan Holdsworth, Markus Stockhausen, Simon Stockhausen und Alex von auf 

Schlippenbach und viele andere. 

Andrea hat in den USA zwei gefeierte CDs mit seinen Originalkompositionen für das 

legendäre Major Jazz Label VERVE aufgenommen. 

Im Jahr 2002 gewann er zwei Preise bei den Berlin Jazz and Blues Awards. 

Daigo Nakai, 

ein in Berlin ansässiger Kontrabassist/E-Bassist. Seit seinem Umzug in die deutsche 

Hauptstadt wurde er zu Festivals und Konzerten sowie zu unabhängig kuratierten 

Veranstaltungen in ganz Europa eingeladen, darunter dem Bundestag, Les Rencontres 

Trans Musicales, dem MÓZG-Festival usw., wo er Jazz, freie Improvisation, Elektronische Musik, Rock, Folk und so weiter, verbindet. 

Das erste Album des Projekts Here Comes nahm 2019 auf. Bei der Aufnahme konzentrierte er sich auf den Ansatz seiner Basslinie, der es der Musik ermöglichte, frei, grenzenlos und nicht auf bestimmte Genres oder Stile beschränkt zu sein.

Seit 2021 ist er Mitglied der Band Mitsune, die moderne/traditionelle japanische Musik 

gemischt mit Jazz, Rock und Volksmusik aus der anderen Welt spielt und auf Festivals 

und Musikveranstaltungsorten in Europa und England gespielt hat. 

Im Jahr 2022 veröffentlichte Nakai gemeinsam mit Elma Kais, Knox Chandler und Klaus 

Kugel ein Live-Aufnahmealbum mit dem Titel „Licentia Poetica“, das freie Improvisationen 

auf einem Festival, Gdańskie Noce Jazsowe in Polen, einfing. Das Album hat in europäischen Ländern, insbesondere in polnischen Jazzmagazinen und -medien, hochgelobte Kritiken erhalten. 

Saints, See and Sun 

is a musical project aimed at combining the jazz experience, especially the practice of 

improvisation, with the atmospheres and colors of the musical languages developed in the lands bordering the Mediterranean Sea basin. Lots of music linked to cultural traditions, often shared, whose roots lie in a terrain that strongly characterizes the spirit and artistic expressiveness of the peoples of Southern Europe and North Africa. 

A musical culture, to put it briefly, which draws inspiration from three main elements: 

prayer, stories of the sea and the energy of the sun. 

The quartet's repertoire is made up of original compositions by the group's members 

inspired by the traditional musical forms of Mediterranean popular culture. 

Alessandro Di Puccio

He has conducted and written compositions and arrangements for many jazz orchestras 

and was director of teaching from 1986 to 2017 of one of the most important Italian jazz

He has led a very active musical life for four decades, performing with Wayne Shorter, 

David Liebman, Bob Mintzer, Mitchel Forman, Eddie Gomez, Mike Stern, Bob Berg, John 

Patitucci, Allan Holdsworth, Markus Stockhausen, Simon Stockhausen and Alex von 

Schlippenbach and many other. 

Andrea has recorded two acclaimed CDs of his original compositions in the USA for the 

legendary major jazz label VERVE.

In 2002 he won two awards at the Berlin Jazz and Blues Awards. 

Daigo Nakai, 

a double/electric bassist bases in Berlin. Ever since he moved in the capital city of Germany, he has been invited to perform in Festivals and concerts as well as 

independently curated events through out in Europe including The Bundestag, Les Rencontres Trans Musicales, MÓZG festival etc, performing Jazz, free improvisation, 

Electronic music, Rock, Folk and so on. 

The project, Here Comes recorded the first album in 2019. In the recording, he focused on 

the approach of his bass line that allowed the music to be free, boundless and not limited 

in certain genres or style. 

Since 2021, He has joined the band Mitsune, performing modern/traditional Japanese 

music mixed with jazz, rock and the other world folk music, and has played in festivals and 

music venues in Europe and England. 

In 2022, Nakai co-released live recording album titled Licentia Poetica, which captured 

free improvisation in a festival, Gdańskie Noce Jazsowe in Poland alongside Elma Kais, 

Knox Chandler, Klaus Kugel. The Album has gained acclaimed reviews in European 

countries particularly Poland's jazz magazines and media.
