Maskandi, malombo, the desert blues and jazz all figure in Sibusile Xaba's expansive vocabulary, albeit through a magnetic individual filter.
ESINAM’s soulful voice is intermixed with traditional African percussion, electronic influences, sensitive melodies, and flute improvisations.
Together, they translate messages from their ancestors through rhythms and grooves. Their vocals heighten the trance into rhythmic patterns that bring us melodies of both past and future.
Berlin-based artistic performer, singer-rapper, actress, dancer and event curator Astan KA will open the evening. She explores various genres such as jazz, rap, trip-hop or ethno/afro electronic sounds and develops a musical universe that she names "gangsta jazz".
