Robert McCall is plagued by his own conscience. As a contract killer for his own government, he has had to do many things in the past that he now can no longer align with his values. In his killer retirement, he therefore tried again and again to balance the scales by bringing justice to the oppressed. But even that seems to be behind McCall now, as he emigrates from the U.S. and begins a new life in picturesque southern Italy. But it soon becomes clear to him that dark forces are also in charge there and are pulling the strings of his new friends from behind the scenes. His patience finally snaps when suddenly there are several people murdered. To save his friends from the same fate, he has to rearm and resort to old methods.
