Jahrzehntelang war die kleine kroatische Insel Vis für den Tourismus gesperrt. Das soll sich jetzt ändern. Die alte Fischfabrik auf der Insel mit den sandfarbenen Felsen, umgeben vom himmelblauen Meer, wurde von einem niederländischen Investor gekauft. Der will dort Ferienwohnungen bauen. Fischer*innen, Jugendliche und Arbeiter*innen der Insel kommen zusammen und sprechen darüber, wie der Tourismus die Insel verändern würde. Im Rhythmus der Wellen erzählt die Dokumentation eine Geschichte über Nachhaltigkeit und den Zusammenhalt einer Community.

The Tempest of Neptun

For decades, the small Croatian island of Vis was closed to tourism. That is now set to change. The island, with its sand-coloured rocks, surrounded by the sky-blue sea, is home to an old fish factory that has been bought by a Dutch investor. He wants to build holiday flats there. Fishermen, young people, and the island’s workers come together to talk about how tourism will change the island. To the rhythm of the waves, this documentary tells a story about sustainability and the cohesion of a community.
