Towel Day 2026: Ein kosmisches Spektakel zu Ehren

Douglas Adams war weit mehr als ein Science-Fiction-Autor; er war ein Meister des absurden Humors, eine Ikone der Pop-Kultur und ein scharfsinniger Beobachter des modernen Wahnsinns. Zu Ehren des Mannes, der uns lehrte, dass die Antwort auf alles 42 lautet, feiern wir gemeinsam mit der dem Deutschen Buch- und Schriftmuseum der Deutschen Nationalbibliothek den internationalen Towel Day mit einem fantatischen Programm.

Wir laden alle Erdbewohner (und andere Lebensformen) herzlich dazu ein, das Lebenswerk von Adams neu zu entdecken und gebührend zu feiern.

Das bunte Programm im Überblick:

• Improtheater & Lesungen: Spontane Geschichten und tiefe Einblicke in Adams’ Werk.
• Wissenschaft & Technik: Spannende Physikvorträge und ein Raumschiffbauwettbewerb.
• Kreativer Wahnsinn: Ein vogonischer Prosaworkshop (Vorsicht: Lyrik auf eigene Gefahr!) und knifflige Quizrunden.
• Sphärische Klänge: Musik, die euch direkt in andere Galaxien entführt.

Don’t Panic!

Towel Day 2026: A cosmic spectacle in honour of Douglas Adams

Douglas Adams was far more than a science fiction writer; he was a master of absurd humour, a pop culture icon and a sharp-witted observer of modern madness. In honour of the man who taught us that the answer to everything is 42, we are celebrating International Towel Day together with the Deutsches Buch- und Schriftmuseum (German Book and Writing Museum) of the German National Library with a fantastic programme.

We warmly invite all Earthlings (and other life forms) to rediscover Adams’ life’s work and celebrate it in style.

An overview of the programme:

• Improv theatre & readings: Spontaneous stories and deep insights into Adams’ work.
• Science & Technology: Exciting physics lectures and a spaceship-building competition.
• Creative madness: A Vogon prose workshop (Caution: poetry at your own risk!) and tricky quiz rounds.
• Spherical sounds: Music that transports you straight to other galaxies.
