Yellofox plays contemporary Folk-Americana. Think "on the road through America with a trunk full of ideals and dreams", and you’ll get the Yellofox vibe.
Drawing from the sounds of the ’60s and ’70s (Paul Simon, Gram Parsons, Jackson Browne, Nick Drake) as well as modern artists like Bonnie Prince Billy, Eels, The Barr Brothers, and Fleet Foxes, Yellofox creates a unique and personal sound. The songs about relatable human themes are sometimes bluesy, sometimes folky, always rich in storytelling. It’s groovy, intense, and full of energy.
Their layered melodies and distinctive vocal harmonies are trademarks of their style. The band’s acoustic-focused instrumentation contributes to their unmistakable sound, which especially comes alive during their dynamic live shows. Don’t be surprised to hear a rocking cello paired with an atmospheric guitar—rather than the other way around.
But Yellofox is more than just the music. The duo—Marc Mosmans and Jorieke de Vet, the creative heart of Yellofox—carries a clear message. For the Dreamers isn’t just the title of their album. It’s “an ode to melancholic dreamers, naïve idealists, and tender bon vivants,” as their second album was described in the press. Their songs explore themes such as the search for happiness, doubt, longing, dreams, and ambition.
And their vision goes beyond sound: with backgrounds in the visual arts, Marc and Jorieke also produce documentaries, music videos, and design and illustrate all of Yellofox’s striking artwork.
