Yusheng Jiang Quintet feat. Adinda Hertmans
Meisterklasse Abschlusskonzert
On June 3rd, 2026, the Yusheng Jiang Quintet takes the stage at Horns Erben for a high-profile Meisterklasse Abschlusskonzert (HMT Leipzig). Bassist and composer Yusheng Jiang presents an evening of original modern jazz that bridges the vibrant scenes of Brussels and Leipzig.
The evening offers a profound exploration of original modern jazz, featuring a curated selection of works from Jiang’s upcoming album „As Water Turns“ Much like its title suggests, the music embodies a sense of fluid transformation, deeply rooted in the aesthetics of Belgian, German, and Nordic jazz. By weaving electronic textures and classical influences into the jazz context, Jiang redefines the contemporary role of the bass, blending European sensitivity with the subtle, evocative echoes of his Chinese musical heritage.
Driven by the concepts of Impressionism and Storytelling, each composition is a sonic canvas, using delicate melodies and lyrical improvisation to craft immersive narratives. This vision is brought to life by an elite ensemble of Saxony’s finest young talents: Emmanuel Walter (Piano), Lorenz Bergler (Woodwinds), Ben Mammel (Trumpet), and Lucas Rauch (Drums). Joining them as a special guest is the acclaimed Belgian vocalist Adinda Hertmans, recipient of the prestigious „Toots Thielemans Jazz Award“. Together, they create a musical dialogue that is both melodically captivating and atmospherically rich.
