König Galerie / St. Agnes

The gallery was founded by Johann König in 2002 and currently represents 20 international emerging as well as already established contemporary artists of a mostly younger generation (see below). Their artistic approaches focus on the use of different media, a strong conceptional background and the relation to space. The spectrum of media spans from sculpture, video, sound, painting and graphics to photography and performance. Since 2006 the gallery has been located in a former industrial building near Martin-Gropis-Bau and Neue Nationalgalerie after moving there from its previous location at Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz across from the Volksbühne. Apart from the solo exhibitions that change every four to five weeks, the gallery regularly hosts curated group shows and the performancelectureseries. Johann König regularly participates in international art fairs such as Art Basel, Frieze Art Fair London, Fiac Paris and Art Basel Miami Beach. It is not only there that he successfully places art works in a large number of private and public collections, among them such institutions as the Museum of Modern Art, New York and the Guggenheim Foundation. The artists represented by the gallery show their works in institutional solo exhibitions all over the world and participate in group exhibitions such as Documenta and the biennials in Venice, Berlin, New York and others. Represented artists: Micol Assaël, Henning Bohl, Monica Bonvicini, Tue Greenfort, Katharina Grosse, Jeppe Hein, Nathan Hylden, Annette Kelm, Manfred Kuttner, Alicja Kwade, Lisa Lapinski, Helen Marten, Justin Matherly, Michaela Meise, Natascha Sadr Haghighian, Michael Sailstorfer, Tatiana Trouvé, Corinne Wasmuht, Johannes Wohnseifer, David Zink Yi
