Founded in 1973 in Hamburg’s St. Georg district and based in St. Pauli since 2001, the Pulverfass Cabaret has been world-renowned from the very beginning for its travesty and queer stage art. It stands as a symbol of courage, diversity, and artistic self-assertion.

Emerging at a time when queer lives were still criminalized, the Pulverfass already offered a protected space – for identity, for pride, for visibility. It has defied social, political, and moral resistance – and will continue to do so in the future.
