Expanding Narratives setzt sich kritisch, kreativ und analytisch mit Narrativen und Bildern der Nachhaltigkeit auseinander. In einem partizipativen Forschungs- und Entwicklungsprojekt wird danach gefragt, wie Jugendliche aus Deutschland und Tansania historische und gegenwärtige Bilder und Narrative in den (Sozialen) Medien wahrnehmen und verhandeln.

Im interkulturellen Austausch entwickelten 16 junge Menschen aus beiden Ländern eigene Vorstellungen und übersetzen diese in fotografische Bilder einer nachhaltigen Zukunft. Mit dem Ziel der Partizipation an öffentlichen Nachhaltigkeitsdiskursen werden die Fotografien online und im Rahmen verschiedener Veranstaltungen in Deutschland und Tansania präsentiert.

Das Projekt wird 2024-2026 von der Universität zu Köln und der Technischen Hochschule Köln in Kooperation mit dem Goethe-Institut Tansania, der Akademie für Kulturelle Bildung des Bundes und des Landes NRW sowie dem Deutschen Kinder- und Jugendfilmzentrum (KJF) durchgeführt.

Expanding Narratives takes a critical, creative, and analytical look at narratives and images of sustainability. In a participatory research and development project, it explores how young people from Germany and Tanzania perceive and negotiate historical and contemporary images and narratives in (social) media.

In an intercultural exchange, 16 young people from both countries developed their own ideas and translated them into photographic images of a sustainable future. With the aim of participating in public sustainability discourses, the photographs will be presented online and at various events in Germany and Tanzania.

The project will be carried out from 2024 to 2026 by the University of Cologne and the Cologne University of Applied Sciences in cooperation with the Goethe Institute Tanzania, the Academy for Cultural Education of the Federal Government and the State of North Rhine-Westphalia, and the German Children's and Youth Film Center (KJF).
