The Arbeitskreis für Vergleichende Mythologie e. V. is a non-profit literary association that was founded in Leipzig in 1995.

It focuses on the interdisciplinary comparison of myths as well as the study of religious and cultural history, customs, superstition, philosophy, myth theory and the reception of myths.

In readings, lectures and panel discussions, the working group aims to make the known and the unknown visible, connect the past and the present and understand the familiar and the foreign.

The association promotes open-mindedness and tolerance and is firmly opposed to all forms of manipulation and the instrumentalization of myths as well as political and religious extremism.
