JAMILA & THE OTHER HEROES is a Berlin-based band "from anywhere" that combines PSYCHEDELIC DESERT FUNK with political statements.
Bandleader Jamila was born in Berlin on the day the Berlin Wall came down and absorbed the revolutionary energy with her mother's milk. Inspired by her father, who had to flee Palestine, she and her heroes compose music to appeal to a transcultural audience that can identify with the bands' diaspora narratives and their musical fight against racism.
"As people with family backgrounds in Syria, Palestine, Italy and Colombia, we travel and create a home in our music."
