Kiasmos

In the artist's words:

Kiasmos consists of BAFTA-winning Icelandic composer Ólafur Arnalds, known for his unique blend of minimal piano and string compositions with electronic sounds, and Janus Rasmussen from the Faroe Islands, mastermind of the electro-pop group Bloodgroup . Arnalds, who lives in Reykjavík, used to work as a sound engineer, often for other projects by Rasmussen, where the two musicians discovered their shared fondness for minimal, experimental music. They eventually became best friends and often hung out in her studio exploring electronic sounds.

After releasingtwo tracks together with British producer Rival Consoles on the split EP 65/Miloverin 2009, Ólafur and Janus dedicated 2014 to exploring the area between Arnalds' more acoustic, piano-based solo work and Rasmussen's synth-heavy electro-pop.

Focusing solely on their self-titled debut as Kiasmos, Ólafur and Janus were able to combine and develop their unique sonic aesthetics to complete an album fueled by their shared love of electronic music.
