In the artist's words:

The Norwegian pop witch MOYKA grew up in the forest of the Hallingdal valley, an area surrounded by myths and folklore. It was here that she harbored the dream of one day making music. She wrote her first song when she was just ten years old: inspired by the loss of a friend who had to move away, it was about saying goodbye.

When she enrolled on a music production course in Bergen, MOYKA immersed herself in the world of synthesizers. She immersed herself in the electronic landscapes of Röyksopp, Caroline Polachek and Charli XCX; Robyn, Yaeji and Son Lux. She worked with Cubase, synthesizers and samples and learned to create "my own mystical synthesizer-driven universe".

PopJustice called her one of the coolest and best newcomer pop stars currently active worldwide and described her EP "Spaces" as a masterpiece. She started performing live at various showcase events, including by:Larm and Trondheim Calling (NO), The Great Escape First Fifty and JaJaJa (UK), Eurosonic (NL), Linecheck (IT) and Reeperbahn Festival (GER). In her first year she played Norway's biggest festival, Øyafestivalen, and received rave reviews from the Norwegian press. In the same year she supported Sigrid and played a tour with her that ended with a sold-out concert at the 3Arena in Dublin.

She was nominated for the Anchor Award at Reeperbahn Festival 2019 and then selected as Amazon Music's Weekly One. MOYKA was later named Amazon 's One To Watch 2022.
