Die TRÄNEN are a band consisting of the artists Gwen Dolyn and Steffen Israel (known as the guitarist of the band Kraftklub), who released their first piece of music in January 2023 with the song "Stures dummes Herz". The two got together in a studio in Leipzig to create an innovative reinterpretation of the German punk classic "Duell der Letzten" by Chaos Z. This initial cover project resulted in an independent album called "Haare eines Hundes" (Hair of a Dog), which reflects a year-long creative journey. TRÄNEN's music is characterized by an organic sound aesthetic that combines elements of sinister new wave, sonically beautiful pop, 80s synth pads and dominant guitar runs. The lyrics, performed by Gwen Dolyn's voice, are characterized by approachable gloom and resourceful mind games. "Stubborn Stupid Heart" is an example of her irregular writing and Steffen's solitary understanding of melody. The song, seemingly a euphoric love song, turns out to be a complex dispute about desolate emotional constructs, with a conciliatory ending.
