The Metropol in Düsseldorf can proudly boast of being the oldest cinema still in existence in the city. Over the years, it has undergone a remarkable transformation, from a former suburban cinema to the last surviving veteran in the midst of a bygone era of older cinemas. Year after year, it receives awards from the Filmstiftung NRW for its outstanding program. In November 2023, the Metropol reopened after extensive renovation work.
