Johann Strauss: "Die Fledermaus", comic operetta in three acts (concertante)
First performed at the Theater an der Wien in 1874, Johann Strauss' "Die Fledermaus" is one of the most famous operettas ever. With a mixture of wordplay, schadenfreude and grandiose arias, this amorous confusion holds up a mirror to society. However, the audience never sees itself as the one being made fun of - after all, it is always "the others", never oneself! The story is quickly told: To take revenge on his friend Eisenstein, Dr. Falke invites him to a soirée at Count Orlofsky's house. During the extravagant party, all the protagonists are drawn into a maelstrom of intrigue and lies, and things get completely out of hand ... The work is in the best of hands with Marc Minkowski, his Musiciens du Louvre and an excellent vocal cast. The lively melodies with their satirical and enigmatic texts unfold a sparkling charm in which the biting mockery and critical sting are masterfully balanced. After acclaimed performances in Madrid and Paris, this production is now coming to Bremen and guarantees a funny and at the same time abysmal evening full of rousing waltz rhythms in a champagne mood!
