A Tribute to Ruth Crawford

She is one of the most outstanding composers of the first half of the 20th century: Ruth Crawford. The E-MEX Ensemble has been performing her works regularly since 2020 . Now the ensemble has fulfilled its long-cherished wish to dedicate an entire festival to her: In four concerts, the musicians will explore Crawford's oeuvre, her compositional origins, her environment and her aftermath. Three world premieres relating to Crawford will round off the festival.

With the festival "A Tribute to Ruth Crawford" , the E-MEX Ensemble (http://e-mex.de/) and the oh-Ton Ensemble from Oldenburg(http://ohton-ensemble.de/)will present Ruth Crawford's work in four concerts in a density never before heard in Germany, devote themselves to her historical environment and trace the consequences of her work to this day. They are particularly looking forward to three prominent world premieres in which the American composer Sky Macklay(https://www.skymacklay.com/), the German-American composer Karola Obermüller(https://karolaobermueller.net/) and the Mexican composer Ivan Ferrer-Orozco(https://noesbarco.wixsite.com/ivanferrer) will reflect artistically on the inspiration of Crawford's work .
