"Green mother Bukovina, butterflies in my hair" - Rose Ausländer looked back longingly on her homeland in exile. Bukovina is omnipresent in the Jewish poet's poetic work; the vast beech forests, the mountain meadows on the slopes of the Karpatas; synagogues, wooden chapels, Orthodox monasteries; but above all the people, the many languages, religions and cultures that mingled in Bukovina. "Fairy tales and myths were in the air" - she wrote about the lost world of her childhood.

In their new concert program, the quintet Tovte distils such fairy tales and myths, memories and experiences into sound. The cipher Bukovina symbolizes a musical journey through dreamed landscapes; a journey of discovery full of surprises, through their own, very personal Bukovina."

Tovte is an award-winning instrumental quintet from Cologne. They find great inspiration in klezmer music, where they got their start. Today, they combine elements of klezmer and jazz manouche with pop and classical music in their compositions and are known far beyond Cologne for their unique style and their brilliant and soulful live performances.
