As sea levels are rising due to global warming, forecasts predict that the islands will be uninhabitable by 2050. How do the inhabitants deal with this danger? What do they do when their homes are at risk? And what do they say to those who are causing the threat? One Word is a participatory documentary about the impact of climate change on the Republic of the Marshall Islands and its people. The film was developed and shot with the participation of Marshallese people in nine-month film workshops. This gives the people of the Marshall Islands a voice: "We will not perish. We will fight!"
