Everything is one. Except the 0.
D 2021, Klaus Maeck & Tanja Schwerdorf, 94 min, German/English with German subtitles
"Use public data, protect private data" was how Wau Holland, who died in 2001, formulated his idea of digital freedom of information. Holland founded the Chaos Computer Club (CCC) in Hamburg in 1981 with a number of fellow campaigners, which became world-famous for spectacular hacks and later for its involvement with the secret services. Using archive material from private videos, television reports and all kinds of found objects, the film reconstructs the history of the CCC from its first days in Hamburg to the current debates on data protection, net politics and transparency. Holland's philosophy of a democratic digital culture has lost none of its topicality and relevance forty years later.
Guests: Directors Klaus Maeck & Tanja Schwerdorf and members of the CCC
