SOUND PERFORMANCE
"In a way, I felt compelled to leave, especially after building a foundation of friends and relationships in Lebanon," says Ezzedine. Beirut Today, Sandra Abdelbaki - November 8, 2021
Sunday lunches with the family have turned into WhatsApp video calls where each member is in a different location. Dinners with friends have turned into longing photo exchanges where we start making plans to meet in Lebanon or somewhere that doesn't require a visa. As immigration in Lebanon continues to increase, I wonder what the future will look like. Will the country find its way back or, more importantly, will the people find their way back to the country? Imagining a collective future becomes increasingly difficult as the exodus continues to grow. The sonic journey is dedicated to the large number of people around the world who have had to leave their homes and continue to drift between two places and spaces. AND WHO ARE WE NOW? is an ongoing research that began in 2022, continues to change and transform, and whose growth is influenced by personal and global upheavals. The performance itself is an act of mourning and invites the audience to participate in this collective moment.
