The German-Indian screenwriter Durga is to work on a new adaptation of famous Agatha Christie thrillers. The year is 2022, the queen is dead, long live the king. But suddenly a time gap opens up: It's 1906 and Durga finds herself facing Indian revolutionaries who are by no means fighting non-violently like Gandhi. With her successful debut "Identitti" (nominated for the German Book Prize in 2021), Mithu Sanyal delivered a "crash course in identity politics" (Denis Scheck, SWR) in the style of a screwball comedy. Her new novel questions the colonialism in all of us - as funny as it is ruthless (Hanser).
