Her passion and skill remained hidden for a long time. For the first time, artist Monika Dlugosch is exhibiting her original watercolors in Bielefeld-Brackwede. "I paint with music and love," she says of her creative process. Painting and creating was a secret amorous affair spiced with a pinch of humor. "I never saw myself as a visual artist until people who saw my art told me that I should show it publicly because it's a pleasure. Yes, and that's where I am now." She drew portraits of her family as a child, continued her education whenever there was an art school nearby and still attends Adobe and Domestika creative competitions today. The watercolor school of an artist from Devon in England was her breakthrough. "Building up the technique layer by layer with fine brushes, immersing myself in the subject for hours on end, is exactly my thing." Her focus is a special watercolor technique of realistically painted animals and botany, but the artist also thrives in mixed media and digital art. The vernissage will take place on October 10, 2024 at 5 pm in the Brackwede City Library, Germanenstr. 17. The artworks will be on display until December 23, 2024, with the artist exchanging pictures before the Christmas season to give the library a Christmassy look. Once a week she will be present in person, demonstrating her technique and selling professional prints of her work.
