ARCHIVE IN AKTION

In the organizer's words:

a.i.d.a. proudly presents: ARCHIVEIN AKTION

Dusting off stuff, forming piles, getting hold of as much fascist stuff as possible. The Antifascist Information, Documentation and Archive Center Munich - usually known simply by the abbreviation a.i.d.a. - does just that. An exciting life with folders and transparencies. To properly honor the 35th anniversary of the a.i.d.a. archive, the exhibition presents artists who enlighten or stir things up with their work. For example, the Ludwigshafen collection "What are you fighting for?" or the Berlin "DADA Library". The artistic works are framed by hand-picked archive material from the a.i.d.a. collection and the short film program "Blind in the right eye".

ARCHIVEIN AKTION asks what makes archives alive and brings them into civil society movement. The curatorial starting point is not the provenance of archival records in the age of their digital accessibility, but to show how knowledge for our democracy is extracted from archives. Where does the energy come from that - as in the ether - transforms the noise of information into the silence that makes action possible? For two weeks, ARCHIVEIN AKTION will be presenting processes at the Feierwerk Farbenladen that generate productive knowledge for civil society. The exhibition will be accompanied by an extensive program of events relating to the archives on display.
