The audio performance "Arrest" is about the role of women in National Socialism: three resistance fighters and a Gestapo employee with professional ambitions are the protagonists in this audio piece. Erna K., a typist for the Gestapo, encounters the communist Johanna Melzer, the Ukrainian forced laborer Marija Klimenko and a woman that no one can really assess while working in prison: Is she really an anti-fascist?
The cross-city project is presented both at the Steinwache Memorial in Dortmund and at the NS Documentation Center in Cologne and combines the history of the two former Gestapo prisons in a docu-fictional form. Nicola Schubert has developed a scenic audio play based on real biographies of politically persecuted women and Gestapo employees in Dortmund and Cologne. The audience, equipped with radio headphones, follows the women's paths through the former prisons, Nicola Schubert performs in the cells. The performance explores the contiguities of right-wing ideologies and examines how "we" deal with historical prejudice. What does remembrance mean: overidentification with the victims instead of recognizing the "legacy of perpetration"? Good and evil instead of gray areas?
