ArtNight: Northern Light

In the organizer's words:

What awaits you

On this ArtNight, you will paint unique auroras. Using the glazing technique, you will create several translucent layers of paint and thus create an impressive play of light and color, which is characteristic of this unique natural phenomenon that can only be observed at the South and North Poles.

What you will learn

Acrylic:

Acrylic paint is a real all-rounder! It can be applied thinly to achieve watercolor effects and thickly to achieve a high color intensity. It can be diluted with water, dries quickly, is odorless and waterproof when dry.

Layering:

Layering is one of the most basic painting techniques, in which a layer of paint is applied on top of an already dried layer. The bottom layer is usually the largest part of the painting, the top layers are smaller and are used to add depth, detail and shadow to the painting.

Wet-on-wet:

The wet-on-wet technique involves working quickly to directly continue the paint that has just been applied and is still wet, or to spread it with another layer of paint. It can be used to create beautiful organic and soft color transitions.

Glazing:

The glazing technique, or glazing paint application, is all about thinning the paint and the right timing. The aim is to create delicate (glazing), translucent layers of paint that do not cover. Although we do not work with glaze paint, we can achieve very similar effects with acrylic paint.
