What you can expect

This abstract scene is full of creative painting techniques!

Learn how to paint soft color transitions, work with the vanishing point for exciting perspective in the picture and find out all the tips and tricks for integrating abstract elements into your artwork using the palette knife.

What you will learn

Acrylic:

Acrylic paint is a real all-rounder! When applied thinly, it can be used to create watercolor effects; when applied thickly, it creates a high color intensity. It can be diluted with water, dries quickly, is odorless and waterproof when dry.

Wet-on-wet:

The wet-on-wet technique involves working quickly and directly on the paint that has just been applied and is still wet, or spreading it with another layer of paint. It can be used to create beautiful organic and soft color transitions.

Spackling:

You can achieve great color effects with a palette knife and create a wide variety of textures that would be impossible with a brush. Depending on how you hold the palette knife and the pressure you apply, you can influence the thickness and shape of the paint application or removal.
