ÄTNA's music thrives on contrasts. In the duo's melancholic electro-pop, the minimalist beats of drummer Demian meet the intensity of singer Inéz. A few years ago, the two met at a 90s party at the music academy in Dresden and exchanged ideas about mutual heroes: Enya, Thom Yorke and Prodigy. They then form a band that soon shrinks down to its essence.

At first, the disparate preferences of Inéz and Demian Kappenstein hardly seemed compatible: he immersed himself in crafting organic beats, recorded with drums and effects. She is a completely unique kind of singer who uses her voice, piano and synths to fuse melodies into a new futuristic sound as if through a prism. But then a second listen reveals that the songs of the two as ÄTNA radiate an almost incomprehensible magic, completely unique in style and execution, precisely because of their eclectic structure beyond all conventions.

In "Ruining My Brain" or "Come To Me", art pop, futuristic indietronica, lush rhythms and glorious vocals flow into each other without boundaries, awakening a longing that always means a new beginning - goose bumps included. There's no doubt about it: their debut "Made By Desire" is indeed a new chapter in German pop history. ÄTNA were rightly honored with the coveted Anchor Award at the Reeperbahn Festival.

ÄTNA are a creative duo at eye level. They combine fashion and design with their music, wear monochrome stage costumes and deliver visually impressive videos. The two laconically call this "creating their own world". ÄTNA also prove this in collaborations with artists such as Solomun or Martin Kohlstedt, which always bear their own personal signature. So it will be interesting to see what ÄTNA surprise us with next!
