With Omid Gollmer, everything becomes thinking music. First in his songs. But at the latest in the minds of the listeners when the Austrian-born musician with Iranian roots delicately makes the strings of his guitar resonate. With Scratched Light, he presented a mature second studio album in 2023 that reveals new facets of the singer/songwriter. Sometimes driving, sometimes gentle rhythms, soulful melodies and subtle vocals form the musical basis for the lyrics, which deal with nothing less than the great themes of life: love, peace, home and the search for meaning are transformed into musical poetry, far removed from clichés and empty words. The man from Esslingen proves this in every song, free of vanity and with the right feel for arrangement and instrumentation. One is reminded of the music of Ben Harper, Jack Johnson, James Taylor or even playful dialect poets such as Georg Danzer. His accompanying band The Sleepy Eyes interweaves the gentle sounds of the singer/songwriter with a warm, energetic band sound. Together they create a harmonious whole with plenty of dynamics and elements of jazz, blues and rock.
