Stephanie takes her audience on a culinary journey to rural Flanders. Over a good glass of beer and a casserole, she tells the story of a little boy who is different from other children. "Devlin" is a touching testimony to an increasingly superficial elbow society and at the same time a hopeful story about trust and acceptance.

Devil child Devlin has been the object of suspicion and rejection for years, and he knows all the prejudices against devils: they are red and evil, drive fast cars and eat people. But Devlin is just like any other child - except that he has a tail. After the death of his parents, he grew up in a home, where after many years he is discovered and adopted by a loving family. With the change in his circumstances, the little boy can finally develop and flourish without fear.
The author's fiction debut touches the reader with its detailed descriptions and its precise look at an individual human fate.

On this evening, Devlin presents himself medially and culinarily in his natural habitat of Flanders, where Stephanie Lipka lived for over 20 years. The dark Catholicism and hearty cuisine of the region shaped her view of humanity and are reflected in her narrative.
