BandaBrasil combines Brazilian music and modern jazz to create Brazilian jazz-pop. Exciting, emotionally charged songs ranging from authentic Brazilian music to relaxed Brazilian pop, performed by first-class musicians from the German-Brazilian community. This Brazilian-Munich connection brings the flair of the Copacabana to every stage.

The heart of this formation, founded in 2007, is the Brazilian singer from Bahia, Christiane Ruvenal. In specially arranged songs of Música Popular Brasileira such as Alcione-Joyce-Lenine-Rosana-Ed Motta-Simone-Rosa Passos - she also proves her love for Brazilian music time and again with her likeable appearance, her positive "sun-beach-palm trees" vibe and her pleasant timbre.

Since 2022, the internationally renowned saxophonist Tom Reinbrecht has enriched Banda Brasil with virtuoso solos.

Since 2011, the internationally renowned saxophonist & flutist Alberto Barreira from Porto Alegre - southern Brazil - has enriched Banda Brasil with incredibly virtuoso solos.

The pianist Tizian Jost, popular and respected far beyond the borders of the Munich jazz scene, is a fantastic addition to Banda Brasil with his melodious sensitivity.

Paul Tietze - a band member since 2013 - impresses as a bassist with his extraordinary grooves, excellent timing and imaginative solos. A drummer's dream.

The band leader is drummer Elmar Schmidt, one of the most sought-after studio drummers. He has played with Chris de Burgh, Jennifer Rush, Temptations, Eartha Kitt, Roy Ayers, RAT PACK, United Jazz & Rock Ensemble, Duke Ellington "sohisticated ladies" (musical from NY - feat. DeeDeeBridgwater), Saturday Night Fever (musical), Brazil Connection, among others.
