The experimental band of Portishead musician Geoff Barrow comes to Germany for two shows

With Portishead, multi-instrumentalist Geoff Barrow co-founded one of the biggest trip-hop bands in the world and achieved absolute legendary status within the British music scene with just three albums. His band Beak> is even more experimental. As an outlet between experimental krautrock and electronic music, Beak> released a total ofthree albums and thrilled fans of unconventional rock music with their sound. Their single "Sex Music" went to number 1 in the UK Vinyl Single Charts and turned out to be the band's most successful song - although they say it is not their best song. In November, the exceptional band will be coming to Germany for two concerts in an intimate atmosphere.

Founded in 2009 by Geoff Barrow, Billy Fuller and Matt Williams in Bristol, the debut album " Beak>" was released in the same year. The track "Battery Point" reveals an atmospheric sound that takes its listeners on a musical journey with influences from post-rock and psychedelic rock. With the musical approach of working without overdubs and recording all instruments in one room, " Beak>" is consistently organic and effortlessly sets itself apart from other albums of the year in terms of sound. The band then toured the USA and the UK in 2010, followed by their second album ">>" in 2012. Tracks such as " Yatton" and"Wulfstan II" lay the foundations for what Beak> 's music is all about: repetitive structures, sound experiments and an indie rock-influenced post-punk sound that now sounds even more mature than on the debut album. In 2016, "Couple In A Hole " was released in album format as the soundtrack to Tom Green's film of the same name (2015), which largely took up pieces from the first two albums, but also revealed new compositions. Williams left the band in 2016 and was replaced by Will Young. On the third studio album ">>>" (2018), "Brean Down" stands out with an oppressive vibe that is both psychedelic and atmospheric, winding its way through a post-punk aesthetic. "When We Fall" also takes up this aspect in a 60s rock sound - unlike the "Life Goes On" EP released in 2019, followed by the current single "Oh Know", which shows Beak> froma modern synthesizer-driven side that now sounds even more mature and psychedelic than before. In 2022, Beak> released "Kosmik Musik", another soundtrack to the graphic novel of the same name by Joe Currie and Ben Wheatley - a nostalgic reminder of childhood in England in the 70s, influenced by "2000ad, Metal Hurlant, Kirby Tech, Psychedelic 60s Art, Doctor Who, Douglas Adams, Kraut Rock, Stark Trek and Star Wars".
