In the organizer's words:

Singer/songwriter Bess Atwell is coming to Germany for three shows this fall. The Brighton-born musician made a name for herself in 2015 with impressive performances at The Great Escape Festival, which led to positive press coverage in The Independent and The Guardian, among others. Her acclaimed debut album also attracted radio stations such as BBC Radio One, Two and Six Music and she was given live sessions for Steve Lamacq and Jo Whiley's shows, helping her to gain more exposure. So she spent the following year performing, including several sold-out headlining shows, and returning to festival favorites like The Great Escape and Green Man. Two years later, the former solo project has evolved into a full-band sound, fulfilling Atwell's desire to create a more dynamic live show, with echoes of traditional folk music. The band took some time to work on new material in their hometown of Brighton. Although the thought of taking a step back was a scary decision for the songwriter, it provided the necessary space for re-evaluation and creativity. The time away allowed the songwriter to develop a more refined, confident sound, falling back in love with folk music and learning to blend it with newer indie rock influences. Shortly after recording her track "Sylvester", the singer received her diagnosis for autism spectrum syndrome, which brought a wave of validation for her personally and artistically. "Sylvester is a character I made up on vacation with my family as a kid to make my parents laugh. It's a song mostly about family, the roles we play to keep the peace, and the desire for a more genuine form of connection. Relationship dynamics have often felt like a performance to me, which has left me feeling lonely and acutely aware that we're mostly just going through the motions of connection." With the release of her album 'Always, Already', Bess Atwell's message as a songwriter was fully formed, making her one of the UK's most confident young voices. Alongside high critical acclaim and her songs reaching a total of 20 million streams, the album quickly found support on BBC 6 Music with several songs on the playlists.

With "Light Sleeper", their third work will now be released on May 24th, for which The National's Aaron Dessner is responsible as producer. In addition to the single "Sylvester", the songs "Release Myself" and "The Weeping" are already promising forerunners. In June and July, Bess Atwell will support The National on their tour before going on a headline tour with the new material in the fall, stopping by for two shows in Cologne and Berlin in addition to an appearance at the Reeperbahn Festival.
