BOHEI Festival

A house full of young theater actors. Five days full of performances on the stages of the COMEDIA Theater and in public spaces - in Südstadt and Cologne-Mülheim. Workshops, exchanges, discussions about their own artistic work and their experiences: the BOHEI Festival is entering its 5th round!

Since the beginning of the season, our ten theater collectives with players aged 7 to 24 have been immersing themselves in the motto "Lifelines", which was chosen by imp:act, a group of young co-determinators. Around 150 children, teenagers and young adults invite the audience to join them:

Into parallel worlds for a cup of tea
In search of the thread
In the midst of emotional chaos
To the game of life
On an expedition to the past, the present and the future
To rethink decisions
Into the flow of life
To be alone
On a journey from childhood to adulthood

On the Whitsun weekend from 16.05. to 20.05.2024, they will show their productions and share their thoughts and attitudes with the audience. In subsequent audience discussions, there will be the opportunity to find out more about the groups' participatory work and exchange ideas with the players. The program will be complemented by the RIF theater group from the LVR-Johann-Joseph-Gronewald-Schule. In addition, students from the Aesthetic Education course (University of Cologne) will be inviting people to take part in encounter formats.

Would you like to become artistically active yourself? Then come to our hands-on activities at the BOHEI Festival:

Creative Market
Here you can get creative yourself and do handicrafts, paint and design at stalls to the sound of music. There's something for every age group! The creative market will take place twice this year:
Friday, May 17 from 3-6 p.m. at the MüZe community center in Cologne-Mülheim
Saturday, May 18 from 1-5 p.m. in the courtyard of the COMEDIA Theater in Südstadt

Open Stage - Show your talent on our stage!
Can you juggle, sing or slam? Bring your talent to the stage and register for our Open Stage! It will take place on Saturday, May 18 at 8:00 pm in the foyer of the COMEDIA Theater.
