Exemplary documentary produced in 1979 by WDR in co-production with the Bochum City Archive. The film shows the reality of the war as it has unfolded in German cities since 1942/43. We are showing the film close in time to November 4, 1944, the day of the heaviest air raid on the city of Bochum, which destroyed almost all architectural evidence from earlier times and will be the 80th anniversary in 2024. The numerous interviews with contemporary witnesses and the unique footage by Camillo Fischer, who despite numerous bans did not allow himself to be deterred from documenting the wartime atrocities during and shortly after the air raids, make this film stand out from the ranks of local history documentaries.

The original 49-minute long version will be shown.
