Dance of discourses on identity, power, here and future
In their latest duo, Karel Vanek and Guido Preuß conduct a kind of climate research into the atmosphere of our often tense times. Their performance between dance and music examines the confusion surrounding belonging, identity, political orientation and an unclear future. Where facts are doubted, often only feelings and opinions from one's own bubble remain. Nuances and ambiguity are out, everything should fit neatly into a pigeonhole. Vanek and Preuß ask: "How did we get from "anything goes" to "rien ne vas plus" so quickly?"
CRITICISM:
"A chanson evening of a special kind unfolds before the eyes and ears of the audience: a mixture of theater, musical and contemporary dance performance peppered with socially critical monologues and dialogues. Avant-garde - oh yes! At the same time humorous and entertaining - definitely!
"Like two seismographs, Guido Preuß and Karel Vanek package their criticism of the zeitgeist and transport it to the theater stage in the form of a revue. They dress themselves in ultra-tight, skin-tight hot pants in denim style. All this is intended to show that they are not afraid of provocation or the debate that goes with it. No shying away from conflict!"
"Check your privileges Origin, age, gender, skin color, sexual orientation, non-binarity and the power that comes with it: these are all topics with immense explosive power. Vaněk and Preuß master this hot dance on the volcano of political correctness like no others, while at the same time questioning the intentions of current identity politics and gender debates. The play ends as cheerfully and lightly as it began - with a beautifully sung bossa nova in Portuguese. The play gives the audience the right food for thought and impulses. What they make of it is up to them." (tanzweb NRW)
