Understanding and peace in Gaza - utopia or realistic prospect? Chaja Polak, one of the outstanding voices in Dutch literature, looks at the Middle East conflict, its history and ramifications with a deep understanding for the victims. Born in 1941, the Holocaust survivor tells of the fates behind the headlines and makes it clear that grief and despair know no sides. Her large, humanistic essay is a vehement call for dialog, reflection and action. Together with Jan Konst and Iris Berben, she presents her plea for understanding and peace.
