In the organizer's words:

Beatrice Rana comes from a family of pianists. There were five grand pianos in her parents' house in Copertino in southern Italy. Her favorite instrument to practice on was her mother's grand piano, which she broke at the age of 16... Rana is internationally renowned and loved for her electrifying playing and is now able to show it off majestically in Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto No. 1.

The conductor of the evening, Milan's Gianandrea Noseda, is equally celebrated, not least for his Shostakovich recordings. The expert concludes the evening with Shostakovich's Sixth: contemplative in the first movement, wild and frenzied in the second and third.
