50 years old - forever young! The Junge Deutsche Philharmonie brings together the best students from German-speaking music academies. They have good reason to call themselves the "orchestra of the future". And so the program for their anniversary season consists of works by American composers that sound like new beginnings: Aaron Copland's fanfare paying tribute to the drive of the individual(s), George Gershwin's energetic "Porgy and Bess" suite, William Bolcom's concerto grosso filled with ravishing verve (together with the fabulous Kebyart Saxophone Quartet) and Leonard Bernstein's playful and fulminant "Candide" overture. Daniel Schnyder, a Swiss composer living in New York, will be composing a commissioned work based on these sounds. Delyana Lazarova conducts: much acclaimed and much appreciated!
