Christian Gloystein - „50 Porträts, ein Tier und eine Landschaft“

A photo taken during a long night and a session in the studio are the origin of this exhibition: a painting of a friend marks the beginning of a series of portraits that are not only united by the square format of 50 x 50 cm and a relatively quick completion. All 50 portraits have a relationship to the artist. Over the course of a year and a half, he paints portraits of family members, friends, authors, artists, musicians, politicians and athletes. These are people whose features are not painted down to the last detail, but who want to capture the viewer's gaze. Christian Gloystein combines abstraction with realism, creating elements of tension that lend the motifs depth and appeal.
