Powerful prison musical docufiction (!) from Argentina.

Reas (OmU) Argentina / Germany / Switzerland 2024 - Director: Lola Arias - Length: 82 minutes - Recommended for ages 16 and up

Since 2019, all-round artist Lola Arias has held theater and film workshops in prisons. The film, shot in the ruins of the former Caseros torture prison (Argentina), is based on these experiences. At the center: Yoseli, convicted of drug trafficking, who meets the trans man Nacho and a diverse society of prison inmates that is as conspiratorial as it is idiosyncratic in an Argentinian women's prison. Instead of the usual portrayal of prisons as places of violence, here former prisoners stage their own experiences as a musical - powerful, angry, romantic, with handmade glamor, charm and humor.
